Gundungurra Man Connecting Country, Culture, and Community
Gundungurra Man Connecting Country, Culture, and Community
Sharing Welcomes, Walk n Talks, and Cultural Education to inspire connection and understanding.
My name is David King, also known as Dingo Darbo — a proud Gundungurra Man, a member of the Gundungurra Aboriginal Heritage Association Incorporated (GAHAI), and a Gully Traditional Owner (GTO).
I grew up on Burramatta clan Country, now known as Parramatta. As a young fella, my mother would often take me to the Gedumba clan area (Katoomba) — a place that always felt like home. It wasn’t until later, when my Uncle opened the door and my mother shared her stories, that I truly began to understand and connect with my family’s history and our deep ties to Country.
Today, I’m a passionate advocate for Indigenous culture, land care, and community leadership. I hold a Graduate Diploma in Natural and Cultural Resource Management from Deakin University and a Certificate IV in Indigenous Leadership from the Australian Indigenous Leadership Centre (AILC).
As a long-time Bushcarer, Landcarer, and Swampcarer in the Blue Mountains, I’ve had the honour of receiving several awards, including the BMCC NAIDOC Recognition Award, Hard Yakka, Bushcare Legend, and the NSW Indigenous Land Management Awards through my work with Garguree Swampcare.
Through cultural education, storytelling, and hands-on work with schools, universities, community groups, and corporate organisations, I remain deeply committed to sharing and strengthening our connection to Country, Culture, and Community.
